Biography

From a very young age, Swindle took a keen interest in playing and recording music. At the tender age of 8, Swindle began playing his first musical instrument… the piano. Taking heavy influence from both reggae and jazz musical genre’s and being brought up listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, George Benson & Bob Marley enthused Swindle to begin his career path.

At the age of 11, Swindle was first introduced to a mixing desk by his older brother and began to learn how to make music through a basic home PC. His father, a major influence and mentor began to teach him how to create music using a wide range of different music styles, ghosting the works of the likes of BB King and Quincy Jones. When reaching the age of 13, Swindle began to take music seriously and began approaching independent record labels with his music and also began DJ’ing at parties in his local area. Following on from this, he started sharing his productions with friends and at the age of 15, was introduced to the music genre known as ‘Grime’.

Swindle then focused his energies on making predominantly hip hop and grime productions and at the age of 16 began making music at his first fully equipped studio when attending college. It was at this point that Swindle began making a reputation for himself amongst college students and began working with local mc’s as a result of this. This experience inspired Swindle to set up recording facilities in his house. He decided to record 5 track demos to distribute himself in his local area. A rising MC at the time ‘Sedman’ came across a copy of Swindle’s productions and approached him with a proposal to executive producer his debut mix cd ‘The Takeover’. Whilst working on the release, Swindle bumped into well known underground MC Nyke at a club night and was recommended to record the release at Aim Studio’s, where he was introduced to Music producer & engineer Danny C.

Under the guidance of Danny, Swindle began learning the basic skills of marketing a CD and the processes of recording and manufacturing a CD for release. After doing so, himself and Sedman released the mix CD ‘The Takeover’, selling over 1,000 units through independent stores in London. Subsequently his name began to circulate on the underground/grime/hip hop scene and artists began to recognise him for his unique production styles and a different sound within the grime genre. That is when Swindle decided to begin making his own Mix CD, full of his own productions and packed with guest features from some of the Grime scene’s most critically acclaimed artists, the title of the project ‘The 140 Mixtape’.

From working with artists such as Ghetto, Nolay & Purple… his music began to gain the attention of mainstream DJ’s such as Ras Kwame, DJ Cameo & Logan Sama and 2 of the lead tracks taken from ‘The 140 Mixtape’ were play listed on BBC Radio 1xtra. He since received best newcomer in Touch Magazine. His works then came to the attention of Independent record label ‘AD82 Productions’ (CEO actor & rapper Ashley Walters aka Asher D), who signed Swindle to his production
Company. At present, Swindle is working with a number of artists whilst in the process of recording his debut album, to be released off the AD82 imprint.
